OK....just checking smile

And for those who are of the opinion that there is negligible difference between the two methods you most likely have never seen or worked with a laser….if that’s the case I urge you to expand your horizons, you really need to think outside the box when it comes to this science
How cold is cold?...when you can hold a small screw between your finger tips and weld part of it then I would say that it’s cold…or when you can add steel to a v spring without affecting it’s temper then I would say that it was cold too… when you can weld a pit on a Damascus pattern and keep your weld within the vermiculation in the steel or when you can repair a pit within a scroll and not touch the engraving then I would say it was very precise …. even the best micro tig man cannot come close to what can be done with a laser

Best

CJO, dead on again.........those that say "tig and laser" are the same, have zero experience with the laser welding of today......no comparison, not even in the same ball park..........

Indeed. Once you see a laser weld done properly you simply wouldn't risk a TIG. I've got a tig and even though it's clean it's just no way near as precise. Look at those photos..like toothpaste and it's rock solid.

I have a question regarding the gun you just had laser welded. How difficult will it be to work down the excess weld and re-engrave the necessary areas?

Time consuming. I'll do the filing down and I'll get Philip my engraver to do the honours. It's slow because of how you have to file, by not ruining any surrounding engraving, filing down the edge basically...tedious and slow...but ultimately rewarding.
