A respected member of this forum stated recently that all the chatter going on lately is denigrating this forum and its good intentions in a huge way, or something to that effect.
It's true. I've been a member coming on 10 years and truly rely on doublegunshop.com and the think tank therein to educate me, entertain me and otherwise tip me off to the odd bit that falls a little outside the strict parameters now and again. And the genuine camaraderie here is a wonderful thing.
As far as the torrent of tiring crap directed our way by a certain guy and his alter ego, let's really try to NOT reply, in any way. See a post from him, skip it. Don't even open it. Just skip it.
Like many, MANY of you I value this site with all its varied forums too much to watch it disintegrate into hogwash headaches.
So I appeal to one and all to try to completely ignore the poisonous tripe aimed at us and just skip the damn posts when we see them.

I can only believe that Ed is attacking Dave's website because the knowledgeble members here have expressed their poor opinion of his "gun-smithing" to the point that it has damaged his internet gun sales business. I am surprised at Dave's forebearence in not removing this guy from the forum portion of his site on a permanent basis.
Perhaps another way of expressing one's opinion of Ed's work would be to buy one of his flamed guns on GunBroker and express an opinion of his work in feedback. If he has nothing to lose other than his "membership" in this forum which he obviously does not value anyway, he has no real reason to respond to our requests that he clean up his act or go away...Geo

Sounds Good- but don't forget- we also have a single shot and classic rifle sector, we can discuss over and unders and drillings, German and Austrian guns- so shotguns- yes- first call goes to that, but if we exclude the other great gun related sectors Dave has set up for us, we really stand to lose a great deal-- What is Ed's "Alter Ego" anyway- Johnny B. Goode?? Just wondering.

Nothing wrong with the "Ignore" button. Works 100% for me.
Dave did banish Ed for a month, and it was nice here, but it did not seem to get through to Ed.
Perhaps if we all had Ed on "ignore" things might get better too, and folks will not rise to his baiting.
Refresh us on the use of the ignore button, please, someone.

To invoke the "Ignore" feature:
With your mouse, LEFT click on the individual's name or internet handle.
Click on "View profile".
Click on "Ignore this user".
I have used this feature even back on the "old board" on two characters - provocateurs.
If someone you have "Ignored" starts an article - just shun him/her.

Please feel free to purposely attack and damage another BBS besides this one. That is obviously your purpose here. When you were unable to use this BBS to promote your gun business you started attacking it. You have done everything you could to diminish it. Some of it very subtle, some of it not so subtle. The hate you have for this board astounds me. Just a group of hobbyists whiling away their free time, sharing a common passion and information. You are like the 12 year old boy that runs a stick down their neighbor's chain link fence to make his dogs bark. There are enough people here so you can always get someone to bark. Between your post above and the Bilious Bob double identity I would think that would be enough to get you permanently banned. Dave said your next strike is your last one. I can't take it any more...been deleting crap posts for a half hour now and I have to go to work.
Ed Good is shut off till November...one more strike and he gets a perma-ban.
If any of you were involved in the recent discussions with Ed on the who'w who post please go in and delete your post that was meant for Ed...I have already removed most of Ed's.

gee mike, just when things were beginning to settle down, you gotta do this... i am really puzzled by your attitude and the motive for your post...
several of us are trying to self police things here, so dave can concentrate on more positive endeavors. posts like yours above are an example of what we are trying to control...if you must make posts like this, please do keep it private, out of respect for others. and, please do make an effort to control your hostility and help us keep things friendly and cordial here.

Seems to me if someone demanded to be kicked off this board, and then was, it would be easy as pie to sign right back up with a different alias. It appears all one would have to do is obtain another email acct, reregister with new acct and BINGO....right back on board. Makes me think registration process should possibly be more rigid??

Yes. And having two or more online identities - so you can have conversations with yourself or start fights or cause trouble (it's almost always done to cause trouble) - is commonly called "sockpuppeting". On every other site I can think of, sockpuppeting is grounds for immediate banning.
