Received my new copy of SSM today. S.D. Hughes article on this years' ACGG raffle gun blew me away. I am so glad I entered the raffle several months ago. The anticipation of having even a 1 in 4000 chance of winning that 1894 Remington is worth the price of the ticket. Best wishes to all who enter, and by so doing support America's best custom gunmakers, and a big hats off to Steven D. Hughes, Larry Peters, Pete Mazur, Doug Mann and Kenny Majors for creating a masterpiece over a period of about 5 1/2 years. As Steven's article so eloquently describes, the gun follows a theme, that of early 20th century trap (Pigeon) shooting in every inch, from butt to muzzle.

I await June 23, 2012 with bated breath. I can see me now at the Oct. flyer shoot, walking up to the ring, gun in hand, then dishragging the first 5 straight. Stylin' man, stylin.

cool cool

Stan,

Thank you for the kind words. Steve's article on the ACGG #27 raffle gun was very well done. The makers involved with the project (me in particualr) owe him a huge "Thank you!" and good luck!

Doug, you outdid yourself with the checkering and detail on that one. The arrowhead drop points are so "right on" for the Remington. What I would give to be able to see it in person and drink it all in. Welllllll, maybe I will!!!

One thing not so obvious in the photos is how well the gun handles. Weight forward, as a pigeon gun ought to be, yet if feels a half pound lighter than it weighs.
No whirly gig machine needed to tell this one is a shooter, and IMHO one of the most desirable Raffle Projects in the 27 year history.

But wouldn't it be lovely to have the handling dimensions of this gun recorded so as to help define what a pigeon "shooter" should be? I think so and will give it a whirl if we should cross paths and I'm allowed.

How do we go about purchasing the raffle tickets?

Good luck to all!

BTW, anyone that plans on attending the DSC show stop by and say hello. I will be there with the #27 raffle gun and I would love to talk to any of you that will be there.

Doug:
Glad to hear the gun will be in Dallas. That sucker should have been on display at the Vintage Cup, too, IMO, but that's just my opinion. Fantastic work by all involved.

Wow-- what a sweetheart- Interesting that the gang picked a Remington 1894, not a Parker, Fox, Smith, LeFever or Baker- Remington stopped production of the 1894 and the 1900 series in about 1910- they were first raste guns-- The German trained portrait artist Edmund H. Osthaus reportedly had two high grade Remington double guns- not too shabby!!

Congrats to all on a job well done. Looking forward to seeing it in person at DSC. Doug, have you bought a carton of white inspections gloves yet to keep the anxious one's sweaty palms off in the anticipation of hunting it? HA HA.
