Top gun is the A-grade Lefever, Bottom the WA. They look close 'cept for the Lefever's trigger tang cut. Both are .410 caliber.OK. The WA frame is about .025 larger width and depth then the A-grade so these stocks would not interchange. Keep in mind I am not a stock maker so don't exactly the critical dimensions. Also only one sample, .410s.

Here is one I never should have sold, .410 A-grade M-6 with a straight stock. Probably the only one!

My WA is stamped 3 inch chambers. Depends on age. Ithaca also offered to lengthen 2 1/2 inch chambers in the mid 30s for a nominal fee.

If I recall correctly I believe the gun in question was a 20 gauge. If so it would not have been factory chambered for the 3" shell.

Miller, You are correct! Sorry I got off track. I tried to delete my post but it was too late.

I had the stock on a 20ga Western Arms converted to straight grip--very easy to do, as suggested above, because there's no bottom tang to deal with--and the wood redone and checkered. Made into a pretty nice package. In that respect, they're great guns for amateur woodworkers to play around with.
I also owned an A Grade 20ga. Not as nice as Walt's .410, but quite good condition. I've always liked the looks of A Grades, and like Walt, I wish I'd kept that one.

Thanks Eddie, I don't have the invoice for this 1940 gun. It is certainly a WA. It was proofed by Charles August, mod and full (2 & 4). Recoil pad is a King Ferry repro. I still think the wood was 'up graded' , maybe when the pad was added. May I assume you now own it?
