The links didn't work for me. Maybe you have your album password protected?

Henri Pieper was born in 1840 to Heinrich Pieper & Elisabeth Blesse or Blaise in Soest Westphalia. Today Soest is in Germany. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soest_Germany

Henri filed at least 69 patents. Many were filed in multiple countries. They included such diverse subjects as a lamp wick holder, incandescent bulb holder, electric gun, an electric car, magazine clip, monobloc barrels, and much more.

Henri registered the Bayard trade name and mark on June 9, 1892.

In 1881 he filed the 1st patent for a monobloc, which would become his Diana shotgun.

He filed 3 patents in quick succession that dealt with lock up, they are
Feb 28 1891 - 93831;
Apr 30 1891 - 94490;
Dec 15 1891 - 96980.
The patent numbers are for Belgian patents.

In 1892 he released the modified Diana, also a monoblock.

Mike, search this board for information on Henri Pieper. His company, before or after his death, made your gun. Henri was one of the early mass producers of shotguns in Belgium and his name was used on guns of wide quality.

I have 7 Pieper Bayard guns at this point from 16 to 10 gauge and love them. I guess they fit me well or something.
The original quality is all over the place from basic farmer to pretty nice but I havent seen anything near best.

I have an Original Diana 28 ga. with gold inlays of those words, an image of Diana and 28 in gold as well. Nice case colors remaining, 28 inch full and full barrels with few handling marks. Maybe not English "Best" but awfully nice.

My research makes it a special order Model 355 which the 1921 catalog shows and talks about special ordering the small gauges.

Don't use Photobucket, but you can see some photos on the 28 ga. Society site under that title if you're interested. Bayards are very nice indeed.
