My local gunshop got it in and asked me to do a bit of research for him (he knows zero about doubles). I looked it over very briefly today. Its a 20 gauge extractor gun with excellent damascus barrels nice engraving and case colors. LOP is amazingly short (13') to the original curved buttplate (engraved screw heads). Gun is very tight and very little wear (one small spot on the damascus tube). 26" barrels and serial number 60,xxx. I'd estimate the weight at about 5 lbs. I took it apart and it is marked W.C. Scott and Sons London on the watertable. Barrel has various proofmarks.

Ok. Any ideas what this little sucker is? I'll probably head over there next week and take a few pictures.

PS. The gun is not for sale at this time. The owner just wants more information on the gun itself. Came out of Middleburg horse country (which says a lot actually). Thanks

The serial number puts it somewhere around 1900. Quite a few guns were being nitro proofed by around that time. Details of proof marks will help. A photo of gun may help to identify model for you. Sounds nice and in 20 bore it will have a premium over the same gun in 12 bore. Sounds like it was made for a youngster or lady with the short stock. I heard the theory that these short barrel guns; that is short for the period, were made for driven rabbit shooting. How true that is I don't know but it sounds plausible. Lagopus.....
