Vincent Hancock just won gold in the Men's OSK by shooting a perfect round in the final. Great showing by the US Team in shooting!

Here is a good summary of what it takes to transition from NSSA skeet to Olympic Skeet. Olympic Skeet

Anybody know what gun he was shooting? If I remember correctly he won gold in 2008 with a Beretta DT10 Trident straight out of the box with no modifications. Not sure if he's still shooting that gun.

One with a strange butt!

He never looked like dropping a target. Very impressive.

Diggory,
12th & 13th photographs are very interesting, don't they have gun safety in the Olympics?

Salopian, I can't get Dig's link. What are the photos that disturb you? Can you give a link? As a matter of information, many things happen in International Shotgun games and pigeon shooting that would drive a shooter of American clay games crazy. Until the last fifteen or twenty years, pigeon shooters went from ring to ring using the suitcase carry with closed guns. Olympic competitors are not required to wear eye protection and on a rainy day, many do not. The Bronze Medal winner in Men's Skeet did not wear glasses.

The 12th and 13th pictures appears to show shooters engaging targets from stations 2 and 3 at the same time and another shooter heading to station 1

Interesting to hear the explaination

Looks like the fellas shooting in first pictures, were moving to stations to their left

Hancock was shooting a Beretta.

Shooters are allowed a short period to practice mount their guns to warm up prior to the start of the round. It may only be done on the station(s) proper and is under the supervision of the referees and judges. Once the round begins, the shooter may only dry mount on stations 1 and 8...the rest of the stations are cold turkey.

Dry pointing is only allowed up to station 3 before the round starts as I recall. As Maxey states, once the round starts, dry pointing is only allowed on 1 and 8. If you think this is not safe, don't go to any pigeon shoots, where dry pointing by non shooters is usually allowed while shooters are at the score.

Or Columbaire where a whirling dervish is in front of the gun.
