I presume that the carrier was blued by the factory when they refinished the gun.

I have never seen a blued carrier on a Model 12 or Model 42. If it was done at the factory it is a new one on me.

About 99 out of 100 Winchesters that were "factory refinished" were not. A blued carrier was done down on the corner.

The job otherwise was outstanding, the lettering sharp, the angles sharp, the blue right. Only at the right angle in the right light could I see the tell tail buffing on the receiver. The blued carrier lets one know quickly that the gun has been blued. That's why the assumption of a factory job as there is no reason to blue the carrier other to let a buyer know the gun has been reblued. Who has more interest in protecting the value of new Winchester guns then the Winchester factory.
