They look a bit like an old Ithaca to me and seem a bit pricey. Any experience with these guns?

The Colt hammerless double is actually known as the "Model 1883". These Colts were extremely well made, fitted, and finished American double guns and very pricey in their day, with the lowest Grade 1 model having a retail price of $100. Factory letters are still available from Colt.
I suppose "beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder" as they say, but to me the Colt 1883 looks like a Colt 1883; and the Ithaca, well it just looks like an Ithaca.

They do look very well made. I have heard that alcohol will bring out the colors of the Demascuss barrels, does this work?

i guess it depends on how much you drink

never heard that - if it does I would guess it would be because little bit of the "patina" is removed

I think the alcohol would just remove the grim. The only thing that I know that would bring out the Damascus pattern would be ferric chloride.

The Colt letters are pretty much in a form that is oriented towards their handguns. The one for my 1883 has such great information as the "stock - wood" and "finish - blue". The only thing "blue" on the gun is the trigger guard!!

Thanks Mr Researcher this is most welcome. When I first saw this Colt shotgun I wasn't too impressed even though it was built hell for stout. But the more I think about it the more I like it. The gun is tight on face and the Damascus barrels are really quite nice.
