Another reason is the Korean and Vietnam wars happened since WWII when most of these were purchased - they were used up and scrapped out! Last time I saw a Winchester in an arms room was in the 1960s. In Vietnam all the shotguns I saw were Remingtons. Kept one on my track for jungle fowl, snakes and two legged varmits. Sometimes I carried it to the commander's meeting because it irritated the General who was a big advocate for the M16 before the Army figured out why it malfunctioned so frequently.
