Brian,
Back in AFG? You hadn't had enough? Looks like you are a contractor this time? Back here since NOV. not as a contractor but as an LTC advising an ANCOP Kandak (BN) in northern Afghanistan.

The best gun I saw in Afgahnistan was a Webley Scott BLE in decent shape.
In Iraq I got a chance to hold an Holland and Holland SLE with 12 gauge, 28 gauge (I think), and Double Rifle Barrels with beautiful germanic engraving. It was the only time I have ever been tempted in my career. It went to the shoulder beautifully. Today I believe it is in a display case at the III Corps HQ.

he proudly proclaimed to me that he used it every year for birds.and he produced shells and offered me the opportunity to shoot it. Needless to say, I politely declined.

Well, that's not Russian.
I've seen pics of a shotgun made by an "Indian Ordinance Factory" after the independence, and it looked something like that (only a bit better made). So it looks Indian (Pakistani) to me, too.

Just proves how spoiled we've all gotten. I'd shoot it. I'd like to see shotgunning return to its roots. A tube of any sort stuffed with a handful of gunpowder and anything hard and sharp that can fly. No more of this worrying about choke tubes and drop at comb and whether the gun weighs 1/2 ounce too much. That's sissy shootin'. When that Afghan takes to the field, there's no telling if the gun will take his life or that of a bird. Only then can we truly call it hunting. Why, I'll bet that guy doesn't even squat to pee.

Probably made in Dara Adam Khel a while back south of Peshawar about 40 minutes, long famous for its arms manufacture.
There's a story about a Brit in the 19th century who had them make a copy of his Holland and Holland double. Beautiful copy; but later when he showed the guns to the guys at Holland and Holland in England they asked him where the original was....
This was a tale that circulated when I was working in Afghanistan in the 60's; didn't get to Dara to shoot a few of the guns until the mid 90's, however.
Actually, most Afghans do squat to pee...at least the ones on our street in Kabul.
