The little Zella-Mehlis drilling that you helped me with earlier this year is up and running.

It was in tough shape with the head of the stock in pieces and problems with the right lock.

Someone had installed a new sight blade and the actuating rod was left a little long causing the transfer bar for the rifle not to stick out all the way and over the years rounded the face of the rifle striker to round off and skip off the transfer bar. I shortened the rod and had the striker built up and reshaped. Brad Bechelder of Bechelder Master Gunmakers did a great job.

I pieced the head of the stock together and made missing pieces.

I took it out for a test run before I tear it down and refinish the stock. Shot a round of trap with it and missed the first four targets on station one befor I found her sweet spot and ended up with I feel a respectable 19 out of 25 and I was switching barrels every other shot. The old girl can still shoot.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Oskar: Since you are able to post pictures, do you have any more of the process of fixing up the head of the stock? No need to abbreviate the middle of the story...Steve

Sorry no in process pictures. It was pretty much just making pieces fit and re-inletting and shaping to the original. Some of the pieces were oil soaked enough that even after soaking in acetone and packing in diatamatious earth I had to carve a lot away to get glue to hold. Playdough makes great stuff to back pieces being glued so the glue doesn't seep out into work already done.

Posting pictures is quite easy. I use photobucket.

This is the kind of story that warms the heart. There's just something very, very special about bringing one of the old gals back. Good job oskar!
