In Texas the limit on bobwhite and blue quail is fifteen. I have been in a situation that, after a long, long, walk, (miles and miles from the truck) we were finally in the birds. My buddy Guion ran out of shells and I sold him five shells at $10 per cartridge. I could have gotten $20 each if I had been really hard hearted.
But I agree that a box has always been enough for me for one walk on any flushing bird hunt I have been on. But getting $10 per cartridge out your hunting buddy is priceless.
That is priceless.
Things are a bit different down your way. Up here the only time we have a crack at two species on the same walk is when the occasional Hun presents a chance of opportunity when pheasant hunting or the occasional pheasant present the same when hunting Huns, as their typical habitat seldom overlaps. And even though sharpies are fair game in October and November and their habitat overlaps much of the pheasants, by the second week of October when pheasants open up, they are bunched up and flushing wild.
If a walk produced a limit, four or five would be the most with a double on the bird of opportunity.
