I checked the Briley's website and couldn't find any drop in tubes for a 10 ga gun to bring it down to a 12. Am I missing something here? Where could I find such a set? Any info would be appreciated.

Alex: GaugeMates have 10g chamber inserts http://www.gauge-mate.com/gms.htm
Briley does not offer the drop in Companion tubes in 10g

You can get or have made a set of skeeter/chamber-mate type inserts made to shoot 12 shells in your 10. There are no full legnth tubes, they would be very thin. A 12 wad will make a very good seal in a 10 bore. Like one of the modern backbored guns that are the rage with trap shooters. Some will just take a 10 gauge brass shell and make their own on a small metal lathe.

Alex,
It may be a case of the bores being too close in diameter to allow for adequate wall for "conventional" aluminum tubes. I think I recall Briley coming out with 10g to 20g tubes.

I have a 10ga hammer gun with badly pitted bores. I met with Steve Hutton today, and he said that I could hone them out and see how much pitting is left, or I could try to get some shorty 10 to 12. I will keep looking. I want something longer than just chambermates, so that the bad bores wont be as much of an issue.

Alex: Briley could sleeve the chamber to 12g for $375 per hole (!) http://www.briley.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=17#9 then fit a 12g tube set. Is the gun worth that expense?

You could make your own chamber inserts or sleeves. You shouldn't worry about anything ahead of the chamber if the gun is in pitted condition. It isn't a collector condition gun. I would solder or glue in a sleeve of proper size, and shoot 12 gauge shells. You don't need to modify the extractor unless it is badly oversized. If this is the case, use an eccentric sleeve that pushes the shell toward the extractor. The alternative is to spend a bunch of money to ream out the pits entirely, then spend a bunch more money to purchase Briley fitted tubes to 20 gauge with screw in chokes. Do you like the gun that much?

Anyone's memory is better than mine. Help me here.
There is a fellow in Alaska that makes all kinds of inserts. His addy is ACE something.
If anyone has the addy, please post and Alex can try him.
Best,
John
