Is it common, as Beretta has done, to engrave a safety warning on the barrel?
We live in an increasingly litigious society, but:
"Warning---Read Instruction Book For Safe Operation Book Free From Beretta"
Is it specific to North American market? New Silver Pigeon 1.

KB,
It's been appearing on guns for several years...I believe that Ruger may have been the first to use the warnings.

I believe this all stated with Ruger around 30 years ago when they went "barrel warning Crazy" at the insistence of their lawyers. Companies well understand that "You can't fix stupid" and ignorant either for that matter so they go out of their way to put warnings wherever possible. I keep remembering the idiot who shot himself in the foot with a bolt action rifle he was trying to manipulate in a truck cab and sued the manufacturer in this case Remington. He of course violated one of the cardinal rules of safe firearms handling: "Always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction". Jim

I find these warnings a bit of a distraction to read while shooting. Perhaps it is from old eyes but the script is very blurry when I mount the gun.

Actually reading it isn't the reason the warning is put there. It's a legal COA like the fine print in a contract. Jim
