I'll bet it's the breeding season coming up; the gallinacious birds I have been around when their fancy turns to things sexual absolutely lose much of their fear of man, machine and other beasts. I was once jumped and spurred by a wild turkey male who had become overly territorial and had lost his fear of humans. We always see more quail by the side of the road at this time of year in S. Arizona, not paying attention to things they are normally afraid of--and paying too much attention to bidness.
