They can typically be levered out by applying upward pressure on the bottom side of the spring. Then the spring can kind of be "walked" out the back of the frame.

If you cock the hammer, you can use a stout pair of needle nose pliers to lift it out.
In replacing it, you can still compress the spring with the needle nose but it is tricky because it slips along the curve. I use a small 4" "C" clamp mounted on a board and with the bridle off compress it and put the bridle back on.

leave it alone you do not have to remove it to assemble or dis- assemble. if you want to get it out use a spring clamp and compress it and it will come out. it's harder to put back it because of the lack of room to work. good luck

Sorry about the confusion... if your read my 1st post, the question about the LC was at the for end, All the other questions were about the LeFever. As I said in the 1st post I have done many LC's and others, never a Lefever.

Thanks for all of the help. I was taking the springs out because the gown,a although in good condition really need a through cleaning.
