Do any of the esteemed participants know where to get what I assume to be called auto-shots, i.e. a contraption that fires a shell when an attached string or wire is tripped by a trespasser.
Thank you in advance.

Well this question should get some interesting responses. IMHO a potentially lethal trip wire "boobie-trap" that fires a shell and harms a trespasser without warning will make you the criminal in a U.S. court of law. You'd probably get free room and board with "Bubba" sharing a nice 9x5 prison cell, and then the trespasser will take all your worldly possessions with a civil lawsuit. And even if your trip-wire contraption isn't lethal and uses a fireworks charge like a cherry bomb or M80 (also illegal in a lot of states) you run a risk. Better off with a good guard dog, auto-lights around the property and blaring horns as a security system. Best of luck.

Bad idea, Juan Carlos. I know the laws of your Country are different from mine, but I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that a man-trap is also illegal in Chile...Geo

I hope and pray that this is an idle thought and not something you really see a need for. There must be better alternatives. If you use it for animals and a person wanders into it the result would be the same as suggested by Mr. Newbern and Sharpsrifle.

I think they are typically called "spring guns" in this part of the world. The big legal problem is that, in a true emergency, private property rights can and do take a back seat to saving life and limb. The spring gun can't determine right from wrong in this case. The court can, and will, and has on several occasions. A few years past, in the state of Wisconsin, was the last I remember. Best, Ted

Jaycee, M18A1 Claymores have a handy Victim Initiated Detonation mode, if you can't find a nice antique.

If all you want is a signal gun to shoot blanks you could make one from a cheap gun so that it could not fire a , or some projectile(s). Since you have not explained what you would use the spring gun for. you have had a lot of strong advice not to proceed. However, a signal gun could be useful in some cases. David

I remember seeing a pistol spring-gun for sale on the internet somewhere within the last few years, but I believe it had been "demilled" to make it inoperable. It had a blade to plant in the dirt or somewhere and a trip-wire on a spring loaded roller. These things have been manufactured and marketed in the past...Geo

Yeti, I have to say that a call for a M18A1 Claymores brings back some good and some bad days. Might also mention the proper way to call for arty or fire support. Distant thunder of arty, sound of inbound choppers and the hint of a Napom in the morning air. Who needs doubles? LOL

Yes, I really enjoyed going out in the wire to check the damn things and looking up to see some joker standing on a bunker, smiling and waving at me with a clicker.
