I have some screws on my H&H double rifle that are buggered up. The slots are now bigger and the engraving is somewhat damaged. Are there some gunsmiths who repair them or make new ones? How expensive would it be?

Thanks,
Larry

I replace them regularly by making new properly threaded BA screws.

They will need to be replaced, a good English double gunsmith here in BC just did an overhaul of my H&H 12 bore, the job included machine, fit and heat treat 5 new screws ($250) and the engraving for 4 of the screws, with shipping to and from the engraver ($225). They look beautiful, and virtually identical to the originals. Money truly WELL spent (and I'm a very competent machinist...)!

Roalco; Can we see some photos? I always enjoy looking at an H&H.

Was that Newby who did the screws?

Buzz, will try to get some pics at some point, it's just a 1907 grade C (later called Dominion), my wet weather gun... Will be getting the barrels re blacked this year, and then it'll be ready for some pics!
David, yes, it was Stuart Newby, a very good lad!
