Saw a 16 gauge 2F serial #453829 that had smokeless powder steel marked on the barrels. I have never owned an Ithica and this seems like it is in good shape. It has a ranger rubber pad that is detiorating, but that seems to be the only flaw with the gun. Does anyone know about these powder steel barrels? It has pointers engraved on both sides with a few stars engraved also. A metal release forearm. I just am curious about these barrels. They have a greyish/brown patina with no marks or dings.

I have not seen any IthIca barrels but if its an IthAca, that is just the way they are marked during this era. Could it be a 2E rather than a 2F??

I'm pretty sure it was a 2F. I will not be able to look at the gun for a couple of days. Also on the barrel flats were the markings B/P and LLH. The forend also had an S in front of the serial #. The top of one barrel said Made in USA the other Smokeless Powder Steel. Maybe someone with some Ithicas can help. I'll let you know as soon as I can get back to look at the gun. Thanks

sweep - if Mr. Snyder tells you something about Ithacas, you can take it to the bank. The man literally wrote the book about them.
And Walt, thanks for sharing the knowledge.

Sweep, Ithaca is spelled Ithaca. It is not spelled Ithica. Thats the message that Walt and Doug have for you. Sounds like it could be a nice gun. Ross

Sweep:
The LLH is the Belgian maker, L. Lochet-Habran.

Well; I had no idea that a misspelled word offends anyone.

Don't feel bad about misspelling the word. Ithaca Gun Company once published a catalog with their name spelled "Ithica" on the cover. Mr. Snyder reprinted that catalog some years ago. An interesting aspect of Ithaca history.
