the barrels are 30" and have krupp steel on them as well as the manufacturers name and address. it has a single trigger. the side plate engraving is 2 dogs. the serial number is 58xxx. it also has pattent 1878 88 90 94 1907 infront of the trigger guard. on the water table is the serial number and also a badly stamped O or C thats all.

Sounds like a late model high-grade Lefever with some desirable features like Krupp Steel barrels and the single trigger. If its in decent shape its worth a lot of money. Post some pictures for a better estimate of value. Welcome to the Forum. If you want to sell it, go slow and don't let anybody steal it from you...Geo

Ron O, if that is a family gun or if you know the history, we'd all like to hear about where it has been for the last 100 years. I'm no expert, but your gun appears to be a "C" grade in excellent condition. It is rare and just what $erious collectors are looking for. Others are more qualified to express an opinion of value, but I'd guess $5 to $8 grand...Geo

By the way, the "LSR" on the safety means it is only on safe in the middle position. Push it forward and the right barrel will shoot first, pull it all the way back and the left barrel will shoot first. Like early L C Smith 3 position safeties, this is pretty scary if you don't know about it.

Is this a Lefever single trigger? I have only had one but it was not a great trigger or at least mine was not a great one. Might have been worked on long before I bought it but it was not real top notch as most Lefever things tend to be. Has anyone else seen or heard problems with Early or Late Lefevers with single triggers. Mine turned me off Lefever single triggers so much that I will not buy another until I find out if mine was a fluke or the norm.

I know the Lefever box lock had a poor single trigger but wrote that off to the fact that they were designing on the fly and did not last long enough to get all the bugs worked out before they closed.

That said, this gun is well worth owning as it has just about as much condition as any I have seen lately. Good find and good luck in selling your gun.
