I am often told by other dealers that my guns are too expensive. However few if any guns that they sell have been truly 'gone through'. They buy at price x and put their margin on it. There's nothing wrong with that, it is just a different business model from mine. Working through a gun, fixing what you find and making those alterations/improvements that can separate a shooter from a interesting but 'gun with fleas' take time and therefore adds to the cost. I NEVER object to an offer. I always considerate and if necessary make a counter offer. No offer is below consideration. I always try to build wriggle room in to my pricing. It's what the great US gun buying market expects.

And, personally, I'd pay a premium for one of your gun because I know you've gone through it to fix any problems. I look forward to seeing your guns at the Southern more than any other dealer. Take Care. Adam

I've never been sorry for paying "too much" for something I really wanted. But I have been sorry for missing out on something I really wanted over a few dollars. Your mileage may vary.

Thank you for your words of wisdom, it sure is better to spend a couple extra bucks if it's really what you want! And I'll make the dealer an offer and see what happens!

Don't ever be a "stroker"
Make an offer to a gun dealer and when he says yes he will accept it, turn around and tell him you have to think about!

How long before someone pipes up "It's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission"?

This is just my opinion, but I frankly don't care what the seller may "have in" the gun. That's his problem. If he overvalued it when he bought, that does not mean that I have to pay more than comparable guns are selling for in my area. I see the same thing with car prices. Probably a lot of other examples as well. The bottom line is you should not pay more than you feel is fair, taking EVERYTHING into consideration. -Ed

John you are exactly right. If you make an offer you must be willing and able to deliver the money right then. Deal in good faith and expect both sides to be honorable.

I guess I thought that goes without saying. An offer is an offer, not a feeler.
