Remi now loads Tungsten, Iron, Nickel is SG size. It's designed for steel shot approved barrels. Trade name is 'HeviShot', you should get excellent results with this load.

Manitoba farm with a boar operation. Raises them for sale to hunt clubs, etc.

Some reasons why I like to hunt boar.
From my last hunt.

Oh yes, looks scrumptious. Back home we have Misliwska (Hunter's sausage), Krakowska,....great stuff. I took last two with 300gr SP from PMP (actually the slug is made in Korea and loaded into H&H case in RSA).
PS. One could wash some of that down with Duhart-Milon red, that's for sure.

Stallones, That's a good'n, no doubt of its lineage either. Go on and tell us about the rifle & cal. & load of choice. Once we're OT, its no fair withholding information. Nice to see someone who appreciates open sights too.

If I were going on this hunt, I would get some of the Gates Tri-Ball buckshot loads. A Tri-Ball is a 3" 12 ga. shell with three .58 caliber round balls in it. Since a .58 weighs 315 grains v. about 54 for a 00, penetration should be better, and they allegedly pattern tightly through a full or fuller choke. This cartridge was developed for precisely what you are planning to do.

thanks again for the great replies unfortunatly some of the loads you have suggested are not available here in Australia I'm pretty well forced to use Winchester OO/SG's 1 1/8oz loads at 1315fps I will stick a few slugs in my pocket just in case they are needed
I'll let you all know what happens

That is a Prewar M 70 Winchester made about 1939 in .257 Robts cal.Standard grade with Super grade swivels. It has a Redfield Peep sight on it. I was using Factory WW 117 gr. ammo. I shot it from 110 yds offhand as I didnt have a rest available.Amazingly the hog had smelled the corn that I had put out for deer several hundred yards DOWNwind.
