Unknown artist
This is a panel on a tall case clock.
I'm not a houndsman, but he got the vibe of the pack right in my view.

Out there doing it best I can.

Another favorite "Man's Best Friend" by J.F. Kernan. No gun in the image but it's likely been cleaned and put in the cabinet smile

please excuse the glare- I need to rephotograph my prints since I finally got around to buying a polarizing filter

i have always been partial to Edmund Osthaus, but most of them do not fit the topic since they only have dogs in them

although I have many A B Frosts as well mostly the common grouse and woodcock themes- although there are many in the house - this is a favorite I don't see often - Entitled "his new high priced bird dogs" note the rabbit being chased off the right side while the hunting partner to the left enjoys a good laugh at his friends expense

but how old is a "classic"? This one needs to get to the restorer for a cleaning and authentication- by Johann Elias Ridinger - a German artist who engraved and colored his own works in the mid to late 1700's. His sons later entered the printing business with him and continued to print his works as late as the 1820s, roughly translated- shooting flying

One of my favorites is this well used/modified Mike Stackhouse picture --

All of a sudden the gun he's holding is a Fox --
