My grandfather was a tinkerer in all little things that needed a repair. Being a farmer & a product of the 30's depression years his skills included straightening nails, wire & string binding, riveting & soldering. With the soldering he was a magician, but I seem not to have inherited that trait. However, his knife sharpening skills were always questionable to me. One of those good ole boys that sharpens the guts out of the butchers knife till it looked like the tail of a clipped poodle dog.
Sharp ! yes of that there was no doubt but over time the skinning knife became the fillet knife.
My dad is a very good farmer & that is all I have to say about that, other than I want neither of them near my Spyderco's
