I peraonally think this thread should be taken as NEW guns under $2,000 or at least guns that would have been under $2,000 in todays dollars.

Discussing used guns in pointless since there are examples of just about any that can be found for under $2,000.

Take a Lefever nitro special or a Stevens 311. They would have been well under $2,000 in todays dollars if they were still being made.

I am sure a Parker Trojan, Fox SW and Ithaca Fields and similar guns would also be under $2,000 in todays money too. Maybe not.

I see where you're selling a tired old cracked and splintered BSS on GB (been for sale for months now). I read through your description of your gun that you're trying to sell and nowhere do you say anything about "clunky, ill balanced clubs".

There is a 16ga Lefever A grade on guns international in the 1500.00 range that I keep going back to. Looks good, not sure on the price. Shoots modern ammo and still considered "vintage" smile

I don't think there is a ghost of a chance that ANY of the guns you mentioned would be under 2K, if they were produced today-unless they were produced in China, Bangladesh, Vietnam, or, some other third world hell-hole.

The Muslim guns from Turkey that all these guys are crowing about are more than 2K, and they sure don't support an American middle class lifestyle for the builders, rest assured about that.

A Nitro Special, produced in the USA today, with a case colored finish, real rust bluing, a real walnut stock, and two triggers would sure as hell NOT be under 3K, if built here.

Sometimes reality sucks, but, it is still reality. Ask Ruger how easy it was to build a farmers grade SxS.

Best,
Ted

My idea was that some one might perhaps spot a nice Birmingham Box Lock extractor for 2000 while browsing the on line gun sights...an actual gun for sale, & then post it up here .
I might see a Bernardelli Italia Hammer for 1500 Id post that.Others might follow, & we could perhaps politely discuss the good & bad points of each & perhaps vote for best Deal..
It sounded like fun when I thought of it.
I do it everytime I browse guns, 2000 limit.
Id go with SxS from vintage through to the present
Of course, if you Really like the Gun, you should by it before you post, Ha Ha

Very nice guns; used to be real sleepers on the market. But try to buy a 20ga (never mind a 28ga!) for under $1,000 these days. Probably not much under $2,000. The advantage of the Japanese guns (SKB/BSS) is that even the 20's are readily available for that kind of money.

The B.C. Miroku shotguns should be on the list.

The CSMC RBL is a good example of this manufacturing state side vs. price point. A lot of people have their complaints about the RBL from what i have heard, but most have to admit that they are a lot of gun for what they cost.
