Need some help guys, saw an interesting 12ga SXS last week. Marked on the barrel: "Hijus De M Aramberry Eibar". Anyone one have an idea on this or perhaps where I can find more info? Might derail my search for american classics briefly to look at this....... Thanks, Dave

I think the barrel was marked The brothers( hermonas) Arramberri who made a lot of guns imported to the USA in the late 70's

Spanish Best has some information on this maker, apparently he had something to do with the Over-Under that AYA makes and the one that Kemen makes. Apparently was a small outfit, were in business as late as 1972

Forgive my ignorence, but is "Spanish Best" a web site? I am interested in doing some more research, anything else you could come up with would be appreciated.
Thank you, Dave

Carder's lists Hijos de Victor Aremberri Y Cia, Eibar, Spain. In 1930 they made sidelocks, boxlocks and hammer guns. likely part of the same family.

Jim- Any clue if what I looked at was a decently made sxs? It had sling swivels on it, and condition was about what you expect for a 70-80 year old gun. Asking $500, but I suspect I could get for less. Very light, LOP was a little short but overall not bad. Thank you, Dave

I have a 20 gauge Aramberri boxlock, apparently made for the U.S. market, with pistol grip, beavertail, and vent rib, but with double triggers. Seems to be a decently made gun, not fancy but serviceable, a bit heavy for the gauge. I think I paid under $300 about five years ago, and the barrels need to be reblued. I was not able to find much info on the maker, but I think they did not survive the DiArms coalition of the 1970's. I have read that the Aramberri single triggers were troublesome (shocking!).

Thank you, Dave Carder's doesn't say anything about quality but if it looks well made $500 doesn't go far these days, meaning it's probably worth it.

Mr Wieland did an excellant job on his book 'Spanish Best' helpful information, however as we have seen from the Belgium gun trade and the confusion there I would suspect that the Spanish gun trade is as equally confusing. He needs to write a more in depth second volume to cover some of the small shops that stamp their names of some of these more obscure Spanish guns. I have a Avancargas Anchu, S.L.(A. Marcos Rezea) stamped <AMR> that I would like to find some more information. Mr Wieland should team up with some of the members on this Board like Researcher and Bob Chambers, their attention to detail is incredible, and really dig into the Spanish gun trade!!!! While overseas in the Navy I had an Arrieta built and I really enjoy it. More information on the history of their trade would be interesting. All the best

Mr. Weiland published the second edition more than two years ago. I am not sure how a more exhaustive research for a book could happen beyond what Mr. Weiland did. He made multiple trips to Eibar, where he became great friends with several old noted gun makers, I remember a number of mentions of trips to see and talk with (and hunt with) Ignacio Urgartechea. The old school gun makers that befriended him were able to give him a wealth of information on "extinguished" small shop makers, much of which is in the book. I have corresponded with Mr. Weiland several times, he says he is in the process of researching a third eddition now, which will include much more on the fine Spanish Best over/under guns. Not to take anything away from the names you mention, but Terry has indeed done his homework, and done it well!!
