To answer how do you come by these guns, I've had best results by spreading the word with other shooters that I'm looking for such-and-such a gun: a Fox, a Parker, a 250-3000 etc. People like to help.

Not a bad idea, King. I'll have to ask the "pinfire" expert and former gunshop owner at the club to keep an eye out for affordable American also-rans.

There are a lot of doubles drifting around here, jack. At very reasonable prices. There are more shooters than collectors. The majority are clickety-clack guys who look at us as interesting eccentrics. Unsolicited, one showed up the other day with a Parker DH "no good" damascus.

Lowell, both 775 and Researcher have made mention today of a concentration of "Hollenbeckia" at Cherry's Fine Guns. Most of it looked a bit unpleasant and low-end to me but there's a couple of 16/.32-20 drillings on there. Just the thing for the Missoura pothunter. I think the buy is the American Gun Knickerbocker for $95.

A whole "nest" of Three Barrel Gun drillings also. They are appealing. Say, Robt. Chambers has been on about Frank Hollenbeck's journeyman contributions to American design for several days. Don't see it in SAC guns but the Three Barrels certainly have the same "dents" in the barrel balls seen on the Balto Arms. What about Royal Gun? The frame back is similar to SAC?

Lowell,
StLouis should also be the place to find Remington doubles as RAC sold all their stock of break-action guns, half a million dollars worth, to N-S in February 1910, when they saw the light and pursued the repeater market.

Do like a Remmy 1894! Should be my thing, as it has enough rustic in protected places.
Cherry's Fine Guns hmmmm? Does a Brillo Pad and a lockjaw shot come with the guns?
