WoW-

What great pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Mr. Wood, your gun is very nice. I saw a Williams & Powell of Liverpool for sale on Gunsamerica a while ago. It was a stunning gun. Is your's that gun, or is it another?

Thanks

OWD

OWD, this gun did show up on GunsAmerica about two years ago. I bought it before the sun set! The gun is almost in unused condition. The rebounding locks are by Stanton and are incredible quality. If you'd like to see additional photos of it go to http://www.flintchip.blogspot.com/ . You can click on any of the photos to enlarge them. Thanks for the compliment.

Here's some uppity hammers I ran across on Auction Arms. The locks are marked "Viesey and Son".

Yeah - that's the one I remember. Beautiful. It looks like a superb gun.

Thanks for the pics.

Mr. Wood-

I was looking at your pics again. That gun is outstanding.

Please tell me more about how it locks up. It looks like a modified Scott system.

Are there any patents #s on it anywhere? It looks unusual.

Thanks

OWD

OWD, check your PM's for a detailed description of the mechanism. Let me know if you don't get it before long. Oh, a little confusing--the Simplex action is quoted in "The British Shotgun" as patent number 1247 of 1875. However, on the action's watertable is stamped "Williams & Powell Patent 531". I'm going to go with the lower number since I believe the gun was made well before the 1875 date.
