I have a 1927 Ithaca NID in 12ga 30" F/M barrels that is in excellent original condition....
Been debating about taking it on a duck hunt this year, just for the sake of doing so....
What shells can be purchased today that would be acceptable for this gun? I recently read an article of some guys taking Bo Whoop out for a duck hunt last year, and they used the Kent Tungsten Matrix shells in Bo Whoop. But, Bo Whoop was a Super fox, and I believe chambered for 3" shells.
I have often heard, the NID is on of the strongest SxS actions of it's time, and I don't think that I am too worried about it being able to handle the Kent Matrix, except for concerns with the wood, etc.
Just curious as to what some of you would consider good choices for my shotgun in non-toxic shells....
I have alread shot several high brass pheasant loads from the gun, and it seemed to handle those fine.

The NID was built for "modern" shells. Bismuth or kent matrix should be ok if there are no wood issue
I shoot both in my 3 frame Parker's and long range Smiths without concern

There are currently no wood issues with the gun, it's almost in unused condition except for where someone at some point looks like they left a little blood on the barrel, and some bluing loss that I touched up with cold blue.

I am signed up for notification if they ever get those back in stock..... Have you used them, how'd they work on kill'n ducks. I like getting birds in the stool before shooting at them, it's all part of the game!

Well I am nobody, I use skeet guns and slow #3 steel shot and have no issues with killing ducks. But I shoot them while they are pulling up their underwear AND since you are in the middle of the Mississippi Flyway, you should have great shooting. Mike

Don't shoot steel 3s in your NID unless it has open chokes. Stick to tungsten matrix, nice-shot, bismuth or other barrel safe alternatives...Geo

I can always take another gun if I want to shoot steel.... I have a Citori, and a Beretta Urika II.
