No, the plug goes in the hole on the side.

You have circled the trigger plate screw.

OK. Thanks. So what's the little pin poking through right in front of it?

And what's this turret?

The stud in front of the screw is just that, a stud to keep things lined up and relieve the screw behind it from doing all the work. The boss between the top tang and and trigger plate is threaded for the through bolt.

That is wonderful rifle and I tried to trade for it before it went to Julia's. The owner was a very well known author who had an unrealistic idea of value on it. He felt it would hammer over 40K, sold for upper teens. I offered him more than it sold for.

OK. Thanks.

Why is there a jog in the boss connecting the top-strap to the triggerplate?

That looks unusual to me, as does the way it connect to both pieces. And I'm guess a screw goes in from the top and bottom to secure things, correct?

Is that part of the Fraser boxlock design? Or am I just mistaken?

One other thing: It looks like this gun uses a coil-spring on the safety? Is that the case? And is that something you see in a lot of Scottish guns? I know some other guns use sugar-tong style springs.

BTW: check this out:

http://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-fo...un_id=100857371

That appears to be a more traditional type of boxlock.

And this appears to be the kind of Fraser boxlock the OP referred to at the beginning of this thread (scroll down):

The jog in the boss between the top tang and trigger plate is to allow room for the sear tips and trigger blades. They just barely clear. The boss is just part of the Fraser take on a boxlock and it is secured with screw both top and bottom. Yes, coil spring for the safety. Not something I have seen on other Scottish guns.
