Final thought, Jag-O As you allude to Im not sure your heavenly place exists. All we can hope for is that were on occasion a scummy ginger cat. But were mostly just cute furry squirrels. Enjoy the moments you are a cat. https://youtu.be/r71cTO_A7t4________________________ Life aint nothin but a cold, hard ride. Bruce Springsteen

You know, them ones with lower taxes, universal healthcare (where people don't go bankrupt from serious illness), paid vacations, paid maternity leave for at least six months....... No "Shithole Countries" please.

If you post up a picture or two, I bet we could scrape up a few donations and put you on six month maternity leave. And, I think you have it wrong, the places that you want to be utopia, are the shiiteholes.

For example, there would be no need to spend 15 to 20 billion on a wall. I don't need any money, but fhanks for the thought anyway.

Hey, any of you California residents.....is the New California effort a wacko pipe dream or does it have some chance. My understanding is they are trying to follow the US Constitution and they have the example/precedent of West Viginia to guide them.
The world cries out for such: he is needed & needed badly- the man who can carry a message to Garcia

Canvasback - there has been talk of dividing California into North and South or urban and rural forever, but it never goes anywhere. There is also a longstanding movement to join rural northern CA and southern Oregon as the State of Jefferson that actually has a lot of support in those counties. They are politically overwhelmed and neglected by the big cities, which are home to the great majority of the state's population. One of the biggest issues is water - so much of NoCal's water is piped south that the Sacramento River Delta and San Francisco Bay are dying, while farmers chafe at regulations which attempt to save some water to keep that very large estuary alive. Because of poor water quality and volume in the Delta, and the fish-grinding pumps which feed the huge aqueducts, we have nearly lost our salmon and some other fish species. However, the cities of SoCal and the farmers have a lot more clout than sport and commercial fishermen. Fear of losing control of the water means that the cities would never cede political control to rural counties.

Hey, any of you California residents.....is the New California effort a wacko pipe dream or does it have some chance. My understanding is they are trying to follow the US Constitution and they have the example/precedent of West Viginia to guide them. The West Virginia precedent is thin at best. During the War, Virginia extended up past the huge bituminous coal region of western Pennsylvania and subsequent furnaces of Pittsburgh and its tremendous steel and iron capability. This geographical salient into the North made Washington very nervous. A lot of irregularities, voting and otherwise were associated with this disunion from Virginia. Quoted from Pittsburgh During the Civil War 1860-1863
Beth Trapani Carnegie Mellon University Carnegie Mellon University Research ShowcasePage 6 states that, "Pittsburgh was also a bastion of industrial strength that helped the North to win the Civil War. One of the City's most important contributions was the Rodman guns cast at the Fort Pitt Works, which supplied the North with 1,193 cannons during the warnearly 15 percent of the total manufactured.20 Not only did Pittsburgh's mills pump out steel and its arsenals create guns and other war supplies, but boats of many kinds used in the war on the Mississippi were built in Pittsburgh, particularly the steam rams which helped to smash the Confederate fleets at Memphis."Many in Hillbilly today feel this vote and subsequent separation was a sham. Of course this perspective depends on the books you read and the people you ask.

Why should anyone care what happened in 1860-1863? What might be significant to members of this board is that the best shotgun cartridges are loaded in Kearneysville West Virginia.
