I suppose you're right, Jones, but I have never seen a choke tube that came from a gunmaker made that way. I've never seen a modern made choke tube of any kind that was "jug choked" and I've never seen a -.004" (negative 4 thousandths) throw anything tighter than a cylinder pattern. I guess I've been too isolated. SRH

Should there not be a bit of jug choke to all tubes? If the breach end of the tube isn't larger than the bore diameter there will be a lip for the wad to impact.

Sure, the rear edge of the tube has to be slightly larger in I.D. to prevent that, but I do not believe that constitutes a jug choke, or works as one. JMO, though.

On the new model Browning A5 there is a huge flare (jug) just ahead of the choke tube and despite all the pissing and moaning you hear about the final constrictions of the Invector DS tubes, mine pattern and perform the way they should. My 12 gauge DS Mod tube has a final constriction of .010, and the IM tube is .015, but they pattern as true mod and IM.

Dave, on a 12 ga., .010" is supposed to be closer to IC .......... and a .015" is usually considered LM. But, as I said earlier, the important thing is that whatever you've got screwed in there patterns like you need it to, regardless of measurements. If you're pleased with the pattern spread and uniformity that's what counts.
Not saying yours are, but there is some terrible quality control with some of these original manufacturer choke tubes. My experience is that many aftermarket company's tubes are held to a much, much higher standard.

The DS tubes are made by Briley, or at least that's what I was told. That said, I agree there are some questionable gaps, especially in the 16 gauge DS tubes.
