I watched the 1973 version of "Walking Tall" last night. It appeared Pusser's rifle was of a Mauser type action and he was shooting clays with a nice boxlock with an English stock. Looked to be maybe Spanish? Has anyone seen the movie or know the guns?

There is something called the internet movie firearms database, http://www.imfdb.org

The only rifle mentioned is a Winchester Model 70, the side-by-side is not identified but perhaps someone here looking at the still image can identify it.

That's strange. I actually looked at that website but only saw the 2004 version. Not enough attention to detail I guess. Still no dice on the double. Nice looking gun.

I saw the movie years ago but have no idea now as to the guns in it.
On Tuesdays I do volunteer duty at an Old Jail Museum down here in Lynchburg TN. We have on display a Pick Handle autographed by Buford Pusser. It was of course not the actual one he carried when Sheriff but simply one he brought when on a visit & autographed it for a deputy.

His motto was Walk Tall & Carry a Big Stick, which in his case was a pick handle.

The old jail was built in 1893 by the Pauly Jail Building & Manufacturing Co of St Louis, Mo. Should any of you ever visit our "Big Town" of Lynchburg (population about 400) on a Tues between 11:00 & 3:00 drop in & say hello.

I was just in the Visitor's Center at the Theodore Roosevelt National Park at Medora, ND, yesterday and there among the Winchester Model 76s was a Baker/L.C. Smith Maker three-barrel with no identification or explanation at all?

Researcher, I have encountered a couple of other Baker/Smith drillings with no marks. Can only guess on why. Lunch box, made from parts after model offerings ceased, ??
