i have S&W Governor in the 45/.410 chambering. I have used it to qualify on the range for concealed carry using both 45 LC and ACP with half moons. At the minimal ranges used for CC qualification mine shoots exactly where I aim it, but I have no idea what is would do even at 25 yards of more. I have not shot .410 in it but have seen the films and it seems like the perfect snake gun for camping or backpacking.

I don't know much, but my grade school diploma is framed above my desk. What don't I understand about a .410 at .408 to .409 bore diameter and a .454 diameter of a 45 Colt bullet? I don't think you guys are thinking right. Oh, what the heck, go ahead and do it.

Stan, as you can see DO NOT try a .45 in a 410...I use with some good success a .41 pistol bullet glued to a BPI "410 Stump" wad that is over a nitro card using LiL Gun powder. Yes I use Magtech brass and use a 38-55 die to put a crimp on them. BTW all Rocky Mountain Cartridge in Wyoming is closing their doors, so I you want some brass that will literally last a lifetime, get your orders in ASAP

I have an early 20th century H & R single shot smooth bore .410 shotgun marked for 44-40 Shot, 44 Shot and 44XL that I understand were sort of the forerunner to the 410, at least in the U.S. It was always shot with 410 shotgun shells altho it is not so marked. I don't think a 45 Colt would fit in the chamber.

Just so you know your 44shot garden gun was never meant to be shot with a 410 shotshell although many 2" 410's where used. 44shot,44xl,44-40,and 44GG(GameGetter)where all the same cartridge. Plus many 44shot garden guns where marked "Not for Ball" So a single projectile cartridge could be disastrous.

I became aware of that after shooting 2 1/2" shells. Interestingly, the shells crimp extended perfectly so no indication of a short chamber.

The action is tight and locks up solid. My grandfather was a bird dog trainer and used it for training and shooting quail for 40 years. Thanks for your comments.

My cousin makes ammo for his 44XL from 7x57R(shortened) cases I gave him, it works like a charm.
