With the last two posts from SKB and Ted, I totally agree.

Sounds to me as if they said the same thing Joe said.

I wouldn't be that quick to give up on the gun. First, let some one look at it, that is not an elitist.

I agree with Der Ami. It may not need that much. I agree it's not a good newbie project but maybe they don't care what it costs. I've spent more on a project gun than it was worth in resale. But I generally don't give a flying f about resale. If I want it and can afford it, who cares?

Geez, this stuff is nothing compared to the old wooden boats that I've messed with. Expensive and a lot of work but worth it in the end. Functional works of art, just like our old guns.

Excuse our rudest board member for his complete lack of manners, he is an embarrassment here on the board.

I restore these type of guns for a living. Unfortunately Frank is correct in his assessment that this gun will need far more money invested in it than it will ever be worth. If you are looking for a gun for your son to shoot you will be much farther ahead buying something that is in sound condition when you buy it. In today's market a nice shootable double can be had for well under 1K, often for half that. Best of luck in finding the right gun for your boy. One recommendation I do have is if he is a new shooter you find him a gun with "modern dimensions". Many of the older doubles have lots of drop and can be hard to shoot for a beginner. Feel free to email or PM if you see a gun that interests you I am happy to offer a free opinion on it.

Are all liberal idiot gunsmiths as dumb as a box of rocks..

Its evident to me the guy is not looking for something for his son to shoot unless he's trying to get rid of him.

It's obvious he thinks he found a valuable gun....and was probably gloating how he screwed his neighbor over with his once in a lifetime find.

The neighbor got the last laugh as usual...

Nothing elitist about having common sense.

They may have made the same point but in an entirely different way. I suspect that, when you were a bit younger, if someone spoke to you in person the way jOe writes here, your response may not have been so sanguine.

Craig W may not be that good at judging an old gun but he sure knows how to take the measure of a man.

Psychological Projection definitions:
1) An unconscious self-defence mechanism characterised by a person unconsciously attributing their own issues onto someone or something else as a form of delusion and denial.

2) A way to blame others for your own negative thoughts by repressing them and then attributing them to someone else. Due to the sorrowful nature of delusion and denial it is very difficult for the target to be able to clarify the reality of the situation.

3) A way to transfer guilt for your own thoughts, emotions and actions onto another as a way of not admitting your guilt to yourself.

Just as jOe is darn sure Craig W is gloating, I'm darn sure jOe is projecting. In most of his posts.

And along comes the f'd in the head Canadian dUck...

Singing back up for the socialist liberal gunsmith from Colorado.

I got something you can "project" on Professor Quack.

You guy and girl should start a new TV show....

An old John Denver song for the opening and you girls could call it "the Rocky Mountain Bong Show".

Featuring a F'd in the head dUck stroking bull twinkle toes's pony tail while sitting around hitting their bOng....anal'izing the rest of the world.

Gosh jOe, did I hit a nerve? Bwahahahaha!

jOe, you regularly ascribe to people the lowest possible motive for their actions and statements. Often, with newer members, long before they have posted enough to form any kind of rational judgment as to their motivation. Now, I don't put people on pedestals, but I do tend to wait until they hoist themselves by petards of their own making. As you do regularly.

Reading your posts here it becomes clear you are a sad and unhappy man, unable to interact with others except to complain, criticize or deride. Evidence that this is your behavior off the board is easy to find as well. Apparently you make highly sought after turkey calls. Apparently you know a fair bit about double guns. It's actually too bad you have no idea how to get along with other people and how to contribute.

I rag on you, having tried to give you the benefit of the doubt for years, simply and only because you behave like an ass here. And unlike Keith, your strong support of the 2cd isn't sufficient for me to give your behavior a pass.

Here's a suggestion jOe, one I know you won't be able to abide by but would probably benefit you more than the rest of us. In 2019, how about you speak to others here how you wish to be spoken to....how about you treat others in your real life as you might enjoy being treated. You might find, were you able to do that, that 2019 turned out to be the best year of your life.
