I'll be in Paris the next few days and wondered if there was a fine gun store worth a vist?

I was there once but only managed to visit Les Invalides. They have a superb collection of antique firearms.
Cheers, Jani

Jani, Thank you. I'll try to make time to visit them. Chuck, Le Invalides is a French military museum - well worth visiting - but not a gun shop by any means. Napoleon is buried in the chapel on site. There are very few gun stores in Paris. After buying an Opinel knife to cut bread, cheese and salami in the Courty & Fils shop https://couteaux-courty.com/en/ my wife pointed out to me the window displaying several shotguns, rifles and handguns - I didn't see the firearms in the knife shop because it is housed behind a closed door and not visible within the knife shop. Most of the shotguns were O/U or semi-auto and of no interest to me. Beretta also has a gallery in Paris but, again, of no interest to me even though I own several. Go to London if you want to see nice SxS's at Purdey's and H&H.

Understood about the Le Invalides being a museum as it was on our optional list of places to visit if we have time and I read a bit about it. Thanks for sharing your experience about your similar quest for some gun brousing. I will likely just knuckle under to our group's desire to see the traditional attractions and eat pastries. I may need a gun toting vacation afterward.

I was there in November and simply typed gun and hunting into the maps feature on my iPhone, discovered half a dozen small gunshops a few of which had some really nice SxS guns. Lots of accessories and clothing as well. All of them had locked doors and you had to ring a bell but everyone inside was very nice.
Quite a few more shops that sell hunting clothes, off the rack and bespoke. I picked up a nice pair of stag horn cufflinks in one of them and had a wonderful conversation with the owner. He uses a Weimeranar to hunt everything from pheasant to boar.

Second the opinions on Les Invalides. Absolutely the highlight for me in the whole week in Paris. Budget a whole day- I did and it wasn't enough.

DH I found several to visit when I was there, but that was mid-90's. Glad to hear they're not all gone. Look for armurier (gunsmith) or armurerie (gun shop). "Armurerie" is a real tongue twister in French. Too many r's in close proximity.
