The 720 and 728 were a later series of guns made specificaly for the US around 1973/4 .

Right. And are easy to recognize because both 720's and 728's had their own special series of serial numbers.

Engraving appears to be the basic Model 700 style of which I have several. I believe it was restocked in the US and rather well done. I do not think it began as a 701 or 702. The floor plate engraving appears way too simple but the photos are fuzzy. Nice gun regardless.

The acition is filed as a 702 with square shoulders .The 700 had rounded shoulders behind balls of the fences .

As said Webley did do variations on the basic guns to customer order so this could be a hybrid .
We may never know unless the Webley records can be acsesed .
I believe Richard Gallyon now owns them , they should have the specifications for each gun as these were on a work sheet that was sent to the double gun section and each stage was laid out as to grade , barrel spec , stock dimentions and engraving patern , any other requirements and customer reference if not a stock gun .
