Nobody is trying to discriminate against Californians. The problem is that the gun laws in the Land of Fruits and Nuts are so extensive and change so frequently that we are never confident that we are not committing a felony by shipping a gun into that deep blue disaster. The last time I checked, an FFL from another state had to register with some state agency prior to shipping a shotgun to a California FFL. Its just not worth the hassle and risk for most of us, that's all.

Two part response.

First, there is absolutely NO restriction on a private party shipping this gun to an FFL in CA. NONE! Confusion is rampant, and that seems to be part of the strategy of our screwed up government. As an example, CA DOJ didn't release the actual regs for ammo sales and background checks until a couple weeks before the new law went into effect, leaving a lot of ammo dealers and potential customers in the lurch. It's not just strategy, it's also general regulatory incompetence.

Second, and perhaps more importantly, the stupid CA gun transfer laws were not part of OP's stated reasons for refusing to ship the gun to CA. He absolutely DOES want to discriminate against Californians, which makes him part of the problem rather than part of the solution. His gun, his call.

No risk, no hassle, simple to follow the law. It does not cost a penny more and only takes a few moments. I am happy to sell to anyone who is legally allowed to own a firearm anywhere in the United States. International sales are fine to as long as the buyer handles the exporter details. I really do not understand limiting your market but it is not my sale. How others handle sales is not my business.

Robert has every right to sell his gun as he sees fit, by his rules, and where he pleases. And, just so everyone knows that I am not violating the rules by posting this ........... I am interested in the gun.

Funny that you think a reminder about the rules is a hissey fit, when yOu have been on a high horse about "dealers" advertising guns on here for years.

But, more importantly, it's none of your business whether or not I buy it.

I'll "second" Ted's response--I've enjoyed our direct e-mail chats, and I hope the potential buyer enjoys this very rare Parker shotgun as much as you have- we are all just "caretakers" of the older double guns, a tradition from days gone by. RWTF
