What is the finish on an Iver Johnson Skeet-er Receiver?
It is blue black but it isn't bluing, it looks like plating of some kind. My I.J. Skeeter has worn the finish away on the bottom of the receiver, can that be replaced?
Thanks, Pete

Mostly the Iver Johnson Skeet-ers had a blue receiver, but there seems to be a late period in their production when the receivers could be color case hardened. Stocks were usually high grade American Walnut, with a thick finish.

Or case color. Mine are all blue. Case color seems to be rather scarce.

My gun looks like Bob's but its a pistol grip.
The bluing is worn on the bottom and edges, but it doesn't look like bluing, it looks like plating or some kind of coating.

I doubt if that Skeeter belongs to Bob. He probably lifted the pictures from CSMC. Check out the stock pics in his locked "Superlight Upgrade" thread.... where he tries to suggest that the near finished stock shown comes from a totally different stock blank. It appears they aren't even the same species of walnut.

Caveat empetor, et cetera.

Mine has been blued over original case colors, both are well worn.

Crying Bob... It would be nice if you could also I include a Post-It-Note in the background the next time you post pictures of a gun from CSMC which doesn't belong to you. Then maybe you won't have another embarrassing moment such as when eightbore busted you and called you out.

A Post-It-Note might also come in handy to draw attention away from your recent attempt to suggest that a Browning stock was made from a stock blank with entirely different grain and figure, and is most likely a different species of walnut entirely. Not everyone is fooled by your deceptions. You may now resume your temper tantrum.

P.S.--- It should be "you're", not "your". Did you go to the same school that nca225 did?

sxsman1,
I hope my images helped to answer your question.
I hate to see yet another thread ruined by lying vilhelm's toxic self.
Apologies for the hijacked thread.

Lying keith, do you never tire of being an ass?
How terrible it must be to be you.
Help me to see where I was "busted and called out?
You're psychotic pea brain seems to be working overtime.
