Any suggestions what will help tone down a receiver which has been polished to a mirror like finish? Case coloring is not a real option. But that chrome bumper look just kills the gun. I know Ithaca tried using cold bluing solution as a means of enhancing receivers. Did not last long and only had some improvement. Any polish to break the shine or other suggestions? I long for the grunge they polished off and would consider that an improvement.

I have used browning fluid (think muzzel loaders) and cold blue to creat a fake old finish.
