" having a back-stabbing gun owner in our midst" ??? What are you afraid of? Do you think I'll infect the entire site? I'm not here to promote a conversion to the Democratic Party. I just want to speak for reason and common sense. You play your role as the resident sociopath and I'll make a case for objective reality. Reason and common sense? Liberals think they have a monopoly on them when in truth they have neither Strange how every thinks he, and he alone, has the corner on reason and common sense.

Lots of evidence of loose screws around here!
Personally RM Bill makes a good point. I had a very loose one fall out during an upland hunt a few years ago, albeit a boxlock. It ended the hunt.
Luckily I was less than an hour from home, but at least I had one wild rooster in the bag dropped with an ounce of #5 bismuth.

BTW, I'm in agreement with Bill's original point. Take a gun apart? Have a good look at it and make sure all is as it should be. Which is all he's really saying. Hard to see why there is objection to that.

Because it's bill? Whoa, just kidding bill. Good sentiment, but some times one wonders if it's worth the risk to the screw heads, on the average.

Don't feel competent, don't take the gun apart. But I'm a believer in having my shotguns occasionally serviced by people competent to work on them. And every gun I buy gets a once over before I shoot it. Nearly diviated from my usual plan to shoot a mid 1930's Purdey 2 summers ago but deferred the fun and gave it to CJO to do some minor touch ups to the stock finish. When he took it apart, we discovered the inletted wood was crumbling. Both of us were in agreement there was no way it would have lasted one round of skeet. The touch ups cost a little more than anticipated but much less than restocking a Purdey.
