Re the below post on "Baluch-Brahui tribes," identified as "the worst band-width ever OT post on DGS"....Here is a Baluch made SxS from about 1900. I found it in Quetta 42 years ago. No "Baluch" could have made this. It was probably Pashtun Adam Khel Afridi. But the heirs of the gun were emphatic..it was "Baluch.

Well, there was a group of "Baluch" called the "Balul" which might have been capable of making this gun. They were the Baluch equivalent of "gypsies" and specialized in iron working... and made carpets in the Sistan area in a particular pattern and specifically up into the eastern Iran area of desolate desert. (and I've done interesting and original research on them)

It's admittedly a bit "rough"

And I supremely apologize if I tried to set the stage for who was making what when in the sub-continent. If this offends the usual "Yosimite Sam" crowd...I'll delete.

I have no idea what's inside those home-made locks..but I do like that simple and efficient bolting system....a simple twist of the screw.. voila.

Were the carpets any better than their guns?

When I lived in South Africa 25 years ago, I was able to find some of their carpets. I can assure that many of them are both well made and beautiful. Of course, tribal made carpets are not up to the same degree of expertise as the carpets made in the towns and villages inside a building in that part of the world, but to me the tribal carpets are the real "thing".

I will never again change a radiator hose on a vehicle without thinking, "That isn't a hose clamp... it's a shotgun breech bolting system!"

This looks like a muzzleloader to me. I would not call that a "Bolt" per se.
