John W. Purucker was a gun dealer in Baltimore c. 1890s.

Where is the "Birmingham" marked; the rib?

This J.W. Purucker is in my damascus files, but I have no other information

Man, you Guys are good. Here's more info
sidelocks, name J.W. Purucker on both sideplate
external hammers
Top lever, jet black in color
Fine Damascus on rib (like the picture linked in before)
Proof marks: Birmingham England circa 1887-1896
Dollshead extension which is round at top and has cone shaped taper to bottom end where it fits snugly into the top of action
Stock is beautiful walnut
Action and plates appear to have been case hardened, it's now faint

My Cousin who owns this beauty is not very computer literate hence my helping out.
His primary interest is figuring out the actual manufacturer. Was it domestically made or maybe someone across the pond. Owner feels like to could be a W&CScott product.
Thanks for the wonderful assistance Folks!!

Are there crown-over-V or crown-over-crossed-sceptres-over-V view marks on the action flats? If so, a Brit action too.

Any serial numbers?

So does the lack of Crowns mean it's not British or does it mean we still don't know?

Am no expert on the subject but if the barrels are Brit-proofed and the action not, I should think an original Purucker with English export barrels.
