Hello Everybody,
Well I took the leap and bought this gun. When I get it I will take some more pics and measurements and let you know what I find out. My guess is when the gun was submitted for re-proof that the 2 “ chamber length mark was re-struck over the original mark that had been defaced. So I believe it will have 2” chambers, but we shall see.

I’m going to guess when the sleeve job was done that the chambers were lengthen to 2.5”. But that’s just a guess. I just done see why you would mark through the 2”. Either way it should clean up if that sleeve seam is good.

If they lengthened the chamber to 2.5” I thought they would have stamped the new chamber length. Also they should have proofed it for 3 tons if it has 2.5” chambers I would think.

That to is true. But seller makes no mention that the barrels are marked “for 2” case only”. All 2” guns I’ve owned and seen has the barrels marked. So Im assuming if the newly sleeved barrels aren’t marked “for 2” case only” then the chambers were lengthened.
That’s just a guess and I hope you’re right.

Some 2" guns have the "For 2" Case Only" on the rib and not the barrels. My Hellis is inlaid in gold, nice touch.
But since the OP is thinking the 2 guns are from the same maker, if it was on the barrels like the Powell, it could have been struck off during the sleeving process, while cleaning up the joint area.
I think it's still a 2" gun. We'll see.

I received the gun today. Chambers are 2" and 2 1/8". Bores are .730". No markings on the barrels other than the proof mark indicating a 2" gun. Looks like it should clean up OK. I will post some pics when I get a chance.

Good to hear! Welcome to the "Two Inch Club".
Yeah, you'll get over that, just tell them it's diameter, not length...

To aid in my understanding, and education, what line on which pic tells me that the barrels have been sleeved? Thx

All the way left, two lines of rust. Also stamped Sleeved on the barrel, though upside down, under the BNP mark.

Yes the gun is sleeved and I knew that before bidding. The rust was mainly under the forearm and cleaned right up. A few very minor pits but no big deal. My guess is that the gun was sent in with the original barrels for reproof and failed. As a result the proof house defaced all the marks meaning the gun was not legal to sell. Then someone decided to sleeve the gun and sent it for reproof.
Bob, what loads do you shot? I am thinking 3/4 oz from RST.
