Long Lyman 48. Simple yet elegant rifle. Quite ahead of its time.

Beautiful rifle, I have a crudely sporterized 1905 Ross that I shot for the first time last week. I was really impressed with the smoothness of the action.

That being said, I did notice that it ejected shells upward and rearward. In which case, it would be problematic to mount a scope directly over and inline with the bore. Does the 1910 eject in the same manner?

Wonder why they didn't mount the sight on the other side of the action away from the bolt?

Would be difficult to mount the sight on the left side as it would interfere with the bolt stop.

Now I'll have to find my 1905 and see what's what;-) It's a wonderful action and can't be misassembled like the 1910 which can fire in an unlocked position which unfortunately ejects the bolt straight back. Mine, althought otherwise in perfect condition, had received the WWI chamber modification to accept mud coated ammo. Shoots fine but the brass comes out a bit odd!
