Back when gun makers were trying to figure out how to mechanically retract a hammer, ce 1870s ??, W R Pape of Newcastle upon Tyne came up with this beauty. New replacement hammer created by Lou Rotelli.

This is the 3rd Pape I have heard of that needed new pins.

My 10ga got new ones from Frank Haugh in Milan, IN. The man can do anything with metal.

It seems to be a weak design since all the force is directed onto the small protrusion which engages the hammer slot.
I made mine out of S7 Tool steel which has excellent impact resistance. I also have to make a new stirrup for the lock and the left bbl firing pin
which turns out not to be symmetrical to the right bbl pin.

The hammers on mine have an inverted tear drop shaped slot which allows the retracting pin on the side of the firing pin to float when the hammer starts forward. I see no movement of the firing pin prior to the hammer touching the rear face of the firing pin.

Early breech loaders intrigue me in the variety of design attempts for issues we now know the “proper” solution for.

True. Many different methods were incorporated. The hammer slot on your gun is more forgiving than the one on my clients gun.
Making the pin would have been a lot easier as well if I had one or even the broken one to copy. There were no firing pins in the
gun. Also have to make the hammer for the left bbl as well but at least I have the right side hammer as a model.
