I shoot 2-3/4", sub 7K reloads in my 20ga 2-1/2" Damascus Flues.
K Kearcher mapped the wall thicknesses for me years ago.
Tom A did the pressure verification on the load.
I sleep well the night before I take it out! smile
All my 2-1/2" vintage guns are fed, tested 2-3/4" low pressure loads.

JMO, I would never assume a published load was as low as stated without independent verification. Years ago Alliant published a load with Proreach in 28ga showing a pressure of 8450psi. Independent tests showed the load was WAY above that number. Alliant pulled the data.
The fee Tom A and Precision Reloading charge is money well spent.

The results of some gun club dumpster diving > 10 years ago; so shell lengths may be different now

If the case mouth is 'feathered', the hull is entering the forcing cone

Drew,
The information is much appreciated. I notice that the Estates that I shoot are quite short. As my supply of RST' is getting smaller, it's good to know.

so, watt about barrel wall thickness in front of chambers? is that not the most important factor for safe shooting?

and as for case length, the old remington shur shot plastic hulls measured 2 1/2" after firing...the 16 gauge one ounce loads were my favorite for ny and pa grouse in my 25" cut off sterlingworth...sold that gun at a ver mont show about 20 years ago...many happy memories associated with hit...would luv to have that gun back...

Doc Drew, that looks much like the collection of once fired hulls I assembled when I first started looking into the long hull/short chamber deal. Not an honest 2 3/4" hull among them, although a couple come very close.
