Do any of you Europeam members know anything of the history of Belgian steel fabricator New Lachausse? In business since 1830 and still making military items. I think I might have found their initials and logo on my pinfire double. I had no response from the company to my email.

Are you sure of the name and the spelling thereof?
Neither Pete Mikalajunas' list nor littlegun include Lachausse/Lachaussée as a gunmaker
http://www.littlegun.be/arme%20belge/a%20a%20artisans%20identifies%20gb.htm#L

Pete has NL as N. Lajot & Cie and NL in an oval as N. Lasot & Cie

Scroll down here about 1/3 for the Lajot logo on an action flat. Lajot is a 20th century maker.

Steve Nash's encyclopedic thread includes a reference to a 'NL' mark

I found a statement that Lachausee did not become New Lachausee until the 1992

Daryl the gun is already in the pinfire thread.

Drew the NL is serifed letters is found only on the frame as is the logo if it is a logo. See my posts in Nash's huge pinfire thread.

I can't get NL's email in their contact page, but I did earlier with no response. Maybe someone here can. A company history would sure be nice to read.

I see the late name change. Wondering if the N may refer to a first name, possibly of the founder of the company, that far back in the doublegun age.

Anyone here from Herstal pay them a visit!

Could you please post your image of the logo here?

Lachaussée was founded in 1830 in Liège by Louis Lachaussée. He built machines for the production of gunpowder. In 1852 he died while setting up a gunpowder factory in Serbia. After this, his wife and son took over the business. The company then specialized in machine tools and ammunition machines.
In 1913 Louis Lachaussée, grandson of the factory, moved to Ans. During the First World War he fled to Paris to return in 1919. He left the military sector and started building machines for hunting and sports ammunition.

Thanks Drew. Guess my only hope of tying my pinfire frame to the firm is if the 'object in a vise' logo' turns up on one of their products. Of course, it may not be a 'logo' at all. And there is a slim chance the "NL" might be found on something produced by the company from 1852 to the time of the official name change.
