Somehow, when changing my email address in my profile, the 16 ga Society site will not let me log on to ask a question. My question is, is there a recipe using Remington paper hulls that could use the components:
Powders. Solo1250, or 800x, or SR7625, or RedDot
SG16 wad
Cheddite or Fioche 209 primers

Thank you

I have copy’s of 16ga society loads from a decade or so ago and see no Remington paper hulls. I recently loaded some old win 16ga paper hulls myself with compression formed hull data and a roll crimp (roll crimps produce lower pressures)instead of a fold crimp. They are 7/8oz but haven’t had them lab tested. I don’t own a Damascus 16 and wouldn’t shoot one with unpublished or untested loads.

Skeetex might be able to help he will see this soon.

Your hulls where probably made for the 57 size Remington primer that are smaller than modern 209's. Those European 209 primers are larger than the American primers so you will have to force them into the hulls. Not impossible but not Ideal either.

Tanky, you were correct, 209 primaries do not fit in those Remington paper hulls. Do you think I can force a Cheddite 209 primer in them with a MEC Jr reloader? Or could I dill the hole to fit?

NO, you will end up cracking the sawdust base wad
I am currently loading 6000 *57 primers in lieu of
using the newer expensive primers.

I have collected a stash of old Remington hulls for just such a time.

Got your PM and responded back.

Mike

No. 57 primers show up at gun shows fairly often. And they are usually reasonably priced as well, since they are considered obsolete.

A true sign of mental illness is any gun owner who would vote for an Anti-Gunner like Joe Biden.
